Copper Hacks: How to Clean Copper Cups at Home like a Pro!

Copper

Copper is still one of the most popular trends in bartending and home decor. This is especially true of Moscow Mules, which are known for their tangy icy cold goodness that never goes out of style.

However, after some time, you'll probably notice that your copper items are not as shiny as they once were perhaps showing water spots, tarnish, and other issues beginning to ruin the gorgeous surface you once admired. What's the best way to clean copper mugs? Let's have a look!

The Quick and Easy Method for Mild Cases:

Here’s what you’ll need:
  • 4 lemons
  • 5 tablespoons of table salt

Here are the steps to follow:
  • Cut a few lemons in half.
  • Sprinkle half a tablespoon of salt on a lemon half.
  • Rub the salted lemon directly on the tarnished copper mug until it disappears, adding more salt as needed.
  • Using warm tap water, rinse thoroughly.
  • Using a gentle microfiber polishing cloth, dry promptly.

What about severely tarnished mugs?

Commercial copper cleaners can come to the rescue when you come across copper mugs that require a stronger cleaning solution. Wright's Copper Cream is my personal fave (it works like magic!) Here's a short video tutorial from "Key Fob Rob" on how to use it:
