Bartender Cleaning Hacks: How to Clean Wine Glasses like a Pro!

Wine

It's crucial to maintain your wine glasses clean and crystal-clear, whether you're drinking from expensive stemware or inexpensive Ikea purchases. Stains and debris from earlier pours can alter the appearance and fragrances of your wine, affecting your perception of its color, scent, and taste.

Using The Dishwasher Safely:

Most people think hand washing is a much better alternative when it comes to keeping wine glasses clean and avoiding the risk of breaking them. However, using the top rack of a dishwasher is a good way to find a balance between speed, practicality and safety, just check with the manufacturer’s instructions first.

Preferably, place wine glasses on the top rack and avoid washing small or sharp utensils such as spoons, forks or knives close to them to avoid scratches.

Hold Wine Glasses safely (but not with 2 hands!):

Holding wine glasses close to the sink is a good idea in case you drop one accidentally. Also, avoid holding the stem and the base simultaneously and spinning the glass to avoid creating excessive pressure on this fragile area.

Focus on Washing the Outer Rim:

The bottom of wine glasses rarely gets dirty so in order to avoid the risk of breakage by scrubbing all the way down a glass that’s not actually dirty, focus on washing the rim and the outer part of a glass which are the areas that have more contact with drinkers.

Forget the traditional sponge. Instead, use a microfiber cloth to wash your glasses:

Since we’re all so used to using a sponge to wash regular glasses, it is easy to succumb to the temptation of applying more pressure than is necessary on fragile wine glasses which may cause unwanted glass fractures. Instead, using a microfiber polishing cloth to wash wine glasses will lead to a much more subtle pressure when cleaning the delicate glass surfaces.

Our set of microfiber polishing cloths can be used to wash or polish wine glasses with ease. The bar cloth is the perfect size for cleaning glassware and to keep your hands away from previously polished surfaces, our Large Microfiber Wine Polishing Cloth measures 20 inches long by 24 inches wide.
